Profile:

Our current Press Relations Officer, Enrique (Dick) Antonio Aquino is a proud native of Angeles City, province of Pampanga in the Philippines.  He attended high school at The Holy Angel College in Angeles City, where he also continued his college studies in Mechanical Engineering. After two years of college, he joined the US Navy at Subic Bay in October, 1972. He went to San Diego for boot camp training, then hit the fleet hard and heavy, where he trained and mastered the field of boiler tech operations and repair.

A true sea farer, he served in numerous Naval vessels of different types: USS F.D. Roosevelt (CVA-42) ; USS Forrestal (CV-59), both in Mayport Florida; USS Puget Sound (AD 38), in Gaeta, Italy; USS White Plains (AFS-4) in Guam; and the USS Dubuque (LSD-8), Sasebo, Japan. It was aboard these ships where he learned and mastered the operation and upkeep of the Navy’s advanced and high tech boilers- and thus became a Master Boiler Tech in his own rights.

 

His shore duty tours include SIMA, Mayport, and The Naval Reserve Center in St Petersburg, Florida. Other countries and important places he visited were  Spain, Greece, Italy, France, United Kingdom, Germany, Yugoslavia,  Cyprus, Israel, Lebanon, Egypt, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, United Arab Emirates, Coast of India and Pakistan, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, China, S. Korea, Japan, Philippines.

Along the way, he met and married his wife of thirty years, the former Patricia Ann Morris. Their union is blessed with 2 sons Richard and Eric Michael; and one daughter Erica Ann.

 

Dick is an untiring volunteer for his community. He has been affiliated with numerous organizations, namely: Disabled American Veterans, Adjutant/Service Officer, Jacksonville Chapter 1; Filipino American Veteran Society of Jacksonville, Past Acting VP, Public Relation Officer; North East Florida Veteran Council, Membership Chair; NOTR Dug Out 510,Holley Rat; American Coalition for Filipino Veteran, Florida Chapter,  Big Brother Big Sister, NCOA, VFW, and the FRA. Dick and Pat recently celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary.
